Devyn W6aFor the last full week of my internship I was rather busy with a new shop layout plan as well as a test flight on the ARES simulator.

I was given the task earlier in my internship to inventory the machines in the shop at Piasecki Aircraft. This then led to me finding out which machines worked, which ones needed work, and which ones absolutely did not work.

Devyn W6bWith this list I created an Excel Spreadsheet that displayed serial numbers, make, and models of every machine I could find. This week I measured the shop and created a scale on a drawing. With that I made a legend and my list to find which machines from the original picture were still in the shop and where they were.

I went into the office to talk to my overseer and I noticed that the ARES simulator was up and running and the man from Lockheed Martin was there using it. He asked if I wanted to use it for a while and I spent a day learning exactly how ARES was going to fly and react to different commands that it was given. The controls shown are the actual controls that will be used when flying ARES.
