Parent’s please note: This summer looks a little different than previous summers. While we are offering a few of our long time favorites like Bridge Camp and Energy Exploration, in addition to our wonderful collaborations with Ah Haa and Telluride Academy, we are also adding 4 weeks of new programming with Neuron Garage. We are very excited about this new partnership that will help us bring meaningful, affordable, full-day camps to local families and visitors.
SOLAR EXPLORERS – NORWOOD
Jun 3-6, 2024, 10:00AM – 1:00PM • Grades: 4-8 (rising) • Location: Lone Cone Library • Tuition: Free

Thanks to a generous grant from San Miguel County we are able to offer this solar camp free of charge. We’ll learn all about the science behind solar power with fun hands-on projects, learn about cutting edge technologies, and visit with solar professionals.
CAMP INVENTION TELLURIDE

We are pleased to collaborate with the National Inventors Hall of Fame to bring its Camp Innovation summer program to Telluride. Over five days your child’s creativity, innovation, and problem-solving skills will be challenged and developed in fun and exciting ways through learning modules.

Pinhead is excited to be offering 4 weeks of Neuron Garage Camps this summer. Each week will be focused on a fun engaging engineering design challenge, built with recycled materials. Neuron Garage stays focused on one main building challenge for an entire week, requiring campers to iterate on their ideas as they face setbacks and successes. Each of the 4 weeks will bring a different design challenge so we welcome you to enroll for multiple weeks. You can sign up for 3pm pickup, or for extended hours which will provide childcare until 5:30pm.
BRIDGE CAMP

Bridge Camp prepares kids to think like engineers through a fun, creative, hands-on learning experience that culminates in building a real bridge! Working with engineers the students will learn about the principles of building strong structures, test what they learn by constructing test bridges, and then bring it all together to build a real bridge with the help of the Town of Telluride.
Innovation Camp – run by Hudson Lab Ventures

Entrepreneurial high school students gain first-hand experience in the innovation process by solving real challenges for actual companies alongside leading venture studio Co-Created. Students tap into their innate creativity, problem-solving skills, strategic thinking, and entrepreneurial mindset as they learn the innovative processes of cross-disciplinary concept development.
ENERGY EXPLORATION

COLOR SCIENCE
July 7 & 8, 2024, 9:30AM – 12:30PM for ages 7-9 • Location: Pinhead HQ

Explore the world of color in this class that blends the line between art and science. We’ll explore the physics of light, art of mixing paint, and color theory principles to blend colors in a whole new way. Through reflection, refraction, movement, shadows, and combinations, we will observe how color interacts with and influences the world around us. Students will come away with skills to create contemporary, high-end works of art through drawing, painting, and experimentation.
EXPERIMENTAL ART
July 15-18, 2024, 1:30PM – 4:30PM • Ages:7-9 • Location: Pinhead HQ

No traditional rules apply in this crazy art class hosted at Pinhead Headquarters, where students are encouraged to draw outside the lines, paint without brushes, and push the boundaries of what art is. What’s it like to paint with scribble bots or to use our feet as paintbrushes? We’ll experiment with unusual materials, and play with processes and technology. The sky’s the limit in this fun, unpredictable art experience.

KITCHEN SCIENCE
June 17-20, 2024 • Ages: 5-7 • Tuition: $1100/student

Do you love to experiment – creating cool culinary concoctions or bubbling potions and chemical combustion? Let’s get messy with mad scientists at the Pinhead Institute as we explore the world of science with unique hands-on kitchen science experiments along with a few edible delights. Design your own lab coat and then grab your goggles because it’s about to get messy! When we’re not working in our kitchen laboratory, we’ll explore the natural world around us, build forts in the woods and race creek boats down the river!
FANTASTIC FLORA
AUG 12-15, 2024 • Ages: 9-11 • Tuition: $1100/student

Cultivate your green thumb and learn about botany (the science of plants!) in this Pinhead and Telluride Academy collaboration. We’ll be exploring our local flora, dissecting flowers, and even learning to draw from a botanical illustrator!
REFUND POLICY:
This policy applies only to camps where Pinhead runs the registration. Please contact Ah Haa, Telluride Academy, Camp Invention, and Neuron Garage for their refund and cancellation policies.
Full tuition less a $20 administrative fee will be credited to your account when cancellations occur 14 days or more before a class begins. No refund will be given when a cancellation is made less than 14 days before a class begins. Class transfers are subject to the same restrictions as cancellations, and a $20 administrative fee will apply. Please call 970.369.5190 or email info@pinheadinstitute.org if you need to cancel or transfer a class.
All classes are subject to minimum enrollment numbers; full refunds will be issued for any class canceled by the Pinhead Institute.
