This week was a very exciting week!

I worked some more at the Reef helping take care of the animals, I helped out by cleaning their tanks, we do this by sucking up the dirt through a hose like thing and when there is algae growing on them we have to card them with old plastic cards.

I also got to learn a lot about one of the animals living at the Reef the Octopus bimaculoides more commonly known as the California Two-Spot Octopus. They have the ability to change their skin color and texture to scare off predators. They do this by the ink filled cells in their skin called chromatophore. Chromatophore can responded to light so their skin can sense and responded to light. They also have a wonderful brain the mimics some of the same structures as vertebrate’s brains.

The beach right outside of the Reef!

When I was not working in the reef I was relaxing at home doing some more research on the Octopus bimaculoides. I want to the beach on Friday with some of the other people who work at the Reef and on Saturday night I want out to dinner with the college student I am staying with Lauren, we want to the Noodle City were we had pho a Vietnamese dish, it was amazing!
