This week was super interesting, both in an outside of work.

During the week I was working on various projects including database programming and collaborative software development with the other interns at LASP. Starting off the week I was deep into a CTF (Capture the Flag) designed to show interns the weaknesses of systems. It was super interesting, basically a hacking game. Then I moved on to SQL programming for databases, which is very difficult but cool to learn about because they are in the background of almost everything. Thursday and Friday we were given a lot to do when we had to develop a calculator as a group and use git to sync it all together without breaking other peoples additions. This was no easy task. Git branching is a way of managing projects so that when working you can work on a copy of the original so as not to damage anything in the original, then when you have everything working, you can replace the original with your new work. It’s way more complicated than that but that sums up the important parts. Using git every member of the class of interns created an operator to add to the calculator, I got cosine. Merging my code with others was difficult because we all were trying to merge at the same time, so just when you would think it was successful, and your local files matched the remote files, you would have to edit more and more to make them match.

Outside of work I had a blast this week, doing things with my host family and new friends. On Friday I went indoor climbing at Movement which is a super cool facility and on Saturday I went outdoor climbing in Boulder Canyon.

Then Sunday I went to a Rockies game, which was sadly rained on but very cool.
