I arrived in Georgia on Saturday the 8th. My host mom took me to old town Savannah and showed me all of the historical sites so I started learning already! On Sunday I got to learn what type of dolphins were  in the area, also some native birds of the area. I started my internship on Monday, and began learning about sea turtles and plankton, everything from how to identify them and how to help save them.

The rest of my week consisted of me helping teach kids about everything from sharks, to fish, to reptiles, to the marsh that is connecting the barrier islands here in Georgia. I learned about how the tides change and how anything that is small enough to float in with the current is plankton and how many different kinds of things go in to making the ocean clean, and how all the animals and plants work together to create a different ecosystem from everything above the water.

Learning  the different birds on the river.

Meeting the turtles I would be working with every day.

Being part of the Tybee Marine Science Center!!!

Feild trip to the marsh to understand how the crabs and grass are just a small part of cleaning the ocean.
