Hello again, it’s Taylor Holmes at the University of Utah with the Department of Environmental Engineering and Energy and Geoscience. This week started much slower than last week, but we got the opportunity to head down to the library to look at 3D printing. One of the people working with 3D printing was kind enough to help us download what we needed and start working on our designs. The rest of the week, when we had some free time, we continued to work on our 3D printing designs. By Friday, all of our little trinkets had been printed, and we went to pick them up. On Thursday, we began moving the Picarro (the gas detector that I talked about last week) to the lab so we could test the gasses in the lab with it. After moving it over there, we began to set it up. Unfortunately, it takes 40 to 80 minutes to start up every time we want to use it, and the software on the computer connected to the Picarro is old, so it has been challenging to get it going and give us the data. We are working with the last people to use it to get it running correctly. Hopefully, we will get everything going, and we’ll be able to start using it for tests.
