I’m Karis Varner and I am spending my summer in San Diego California at the Harold L. Doris Neuroscience center  thank from the help from the Pinhead Institute for getting me this internship and the housing that came with it. My first week here has been awesome, we did a mouse dissection and then took it to the vibraphone. The vibraphone was a really cool instrument they have it does take awhile to get all of the items slice but still really cool none the less. It cuts up what they put in there in to extremely thin slices, the one i did only took about thirty five minutes or so but it uses speed and frequencies to cut up what items that are put in. they are size limits and items of what you can put in the chamber and the chamber needs to be filled with fluids, due to having fluids in the item chamber the items are super glued onto a pieces of tape then the tape is place on a little metal plate that goes into the chamber and with a little adjusting of the blade and speed your ready to go but before you start the machine you need to cover the control panel so it doesn’t get fluids on it.  The first week is always a bit slow but that’s where you get the most of the information you are going to need to be able to work together and know what you are doing in that lab. I share this internship with Evan, I haven’t met him yet but from text messages and stuff he is really nice. The person I have been working with and following is Ben Pang, he is super nice and makes things very clear to me. It’s been wonderful experience so far and I havent had any issues with them or the company at all, I am very grateful for this experience.
