Hello everybody! My name is Devon McHenry and I am interning with Professor David Sanders who teaches at Purdue University. Due to COVID-19, I will be doing my internship completely online. Last Thursday I got to meet Prof. Sanders and talk to him over a Skype call. I was so excited but also so nervous because it was a little bit intimidating talking to such an accomplished and intelligent scientist. Sanders explained to me that he plays a big part translating all the confusing science diction into ideas that anyone can understand. My assignment this week was to research analyses about a documentary that was recently released which aimed to spread falsehoods about the coronavirus. Misinformation can be very dangerous in the scientific field and even more dangerous when that misinformation is spread to people who may not completely understand the science behind the claim.
This week for extracurricular activities I’ve watched a whole lot of Netflix! I’ve also been working while staying safe 🙂
