This last week was rather docile. I was given the task of compiling all of the articles mentioning their project that they announced not too long ago. Listing each article with its publication information allowed them to keep track of their media presence more efficiently. I also helped with a grant they were applying for; the Knight Foundation offers $750,000 to tech companies related to the arts. I was in charge of filling in some of the basic information and copying the longer questions into a document. Also, I was able to meet the founder of the company Nonny de la Pena. She is an incredibly accomplished woman (named in the top 20 most influential Latinas) and watching her run the office was fascinating.

For the majority of the week though, I worked on Reach. Since this project is still in its Beta version, I was to test its functionality and report on improvements. I also continued working on creating projects that demonstrated Reach’s use to advertisement and real estate companies.

Outside of work, I enjoyed the last week before my final move to a different host family. Erin took me to the Griffith

Observatory where we saw a planetarium show. It was a great educational experience and the observatory was featured in the film La La Land, which is one of my favorites. Yesterday, I moved in with Patricia, who is a psychology professor at UCLA. Today, she took me on a bike ride down Venice Beach. Also, she taught me how to row when we took a rowboat down the Venice canals. Finally, I got to see a Hare Krishna festival- a celebration of an Indian religion with tents and dancers and carnival games that take to the streets once a year.
