Hi! It’s me! Ethan! This is my blog, I’m going to talk about the last week. So, during my internship, I learned about hardware stuff. Not like timber but like memory, CPU, GPU, storage, etc. Did ya’ know there used to be a PCI-E card for processing physics and stuff? Like, you would have a computer and you want to be a gamer, eh gamer? Well, you have a nice GPU but it’s not good enough, buy this physics card. Now, these are built into GPUs but none the less… Wacky, eh? I learned about threads and cores. A thread is a single line of commands sent to the core to process. Some cores now support hyperthreading which allows two threads to run parallel to each other. Say you have a loading bar, one thread could tell you a percentage of loading and the other could load the files. Isn’t it cool! There’s also- oh, you’re bored? Ok, what about pointers? A pointer and a variable are similar. So, a variable is a part of memory allocated for a for storing stuff. A pointer points to a memory address. Variables are easier to use but pointers are more controllable and thus better optimizable! In fact, they use different types of memory as well, they use- oh, still board? Ok… well, I made like 30 cat 5e cables. That took like two days. It will save you money if you make your own cables too! Just remember “green-white, green, orange-white, blue, blue-white, orange, brown-white, brown”. See, easy!  “Green-white, green, orange-white, blue, blue-white, orange, brown-white, brown, green-white, green, orange-white, blue, blue-white, orange, brown-white, brown, green-white, green, orange-white, blue, blue-white, orange, brown-white, brown” then like x20. I didn’t do much outside of Illfonic so that’s that, thanks for reading my blog!
