This week at the Tybee Marine Science Center I learned so much about the care that goes into keeping the gallery going and what we need to do outside to keep it running. I learned about the filter systems, filling the sumps, how to care for a snake, and how to catch animals off the pier to bring back to the center.

Again I learned more in depth about the modules we are teaching the kids because of the different educators. I worked downstairs in husbandry with the curator for the animals and she taught me how to catch jellyfish to put in the tanks and to get invertebrates for the touch tank. I learned about what happens to the algae on the inside of the tanks and how to care for it.

On the pier I got to rescue a pigeon that fell in the water and his arms got to wet to fly so we got him up by net and then I had to pick him up and take him back to the center so that we could keep him safe while he was drying off.  Over the weekend I went on a tour of the historic district of downtown Savannah and all of the important buildings, including the beautiful architecture of the squares and old houses.
