This week at the REEF was really entertaining. Monday we only had one program which was freshman orientation and the rest of the day was husbandry such as egg check, which is making sure that our shark eggs are still alive and developing, siphoning, which is removing all the fecal matter and waste, and carding the tanks, this allows us to remove the algae from the inside of the tank without scratching the acrylic more. Tuesday was an eventful day with three programs and a mix-up. In the morning we had a program of 30 K-4th graders come into the REEF and another group that wasn’t on the schedule show up with 60 kids show up unannounced. Wednesday we had another three programs come in and we taught them about the invertebrates in the REEF. Thursday and Friday were pretty much exactly like Wednesday except we had different age groups for each program. Overall this week was jam-packed and it is a pleasure learning how to teach others about marine life. Thank you Pinhead for this amazing opportunity.
