Mass transfer over time in a system

It’s pretty saddening to think that I only have one week left here at Northwestern, as I have learned a ton, made a lot of new friendships, and have had numerous immortalized experiences. In the lab, I worked more on determining whether double white dwarf binary systems produced X-ray frequencies that were within the range of detection for LISA, the Laser Interferometer Space Antenna, with Kyle, and extracted parameters from papers about Cygnus X-1, a black hole binary system, with Aprajita. We also made mass transfer plots.

Laughing too hard at a bad joke

After work on Tuesday, I headed up to Milwaukee for Warped Tour, a punk rock festival, with a couple of friends. I can honestly say it was the worst musical experience I’ve had to endure in my life, but I’m still glad I went just to make sure that that type of “music” is not for me whatsoever. After work on Wednesday, I went to an AC Milan vs. Bayern Munich soccer game at Soldier Field with the Schumachers, which was satisfying because Christian and I were really the only AC fans there and they won, despite the large amount of red (for Bayern) in the crowd, including Jake, another intern, who happened to sit only a few rows in front of me.

Me at the game

I can say I know for a fact that I will be incredibly sad at the end of my internship, and I dread that day. Right now, I’m just focusing on finishing up my work for both Kyle and Aprajita as we need to present our research to the advisers at the end of our last week.
