Well, it has been six weeks! It went by faster than I thought it was going to! My last week went by very quickly. I made a poster presentation about my project for most of the week. On my last day I presented my project to the entire group of grad students and my fellow interns. My primary mentor Emilia had to go home back to Brazil, but she Skyped in to watch my presentation! In my work, I found a change in the binding pocket of PKA that could be important in the activity changes in the PKA process! Emilia will be doing more research to see if this is causing certain diseases. I had a great time working with all of the great people at the Amaro lab at UCSD!

The layer of fog I could see from the plane.

My last night in San Diego I went to a professional baseball game with my host family and the other interns. The San Diego Padres beat the San Francisco Giants 4-1. The ballpark was very exciting and an awesome experience. I woke up at about 4 in the morning the next day to head off to the airport. On my flight from San Diego to Los Angeles I flew through and over the fog which looked really cool. After a 4 hour layover I took my flight from Los Angeles to Durango! I am happy to be home. Thank you Pinhead, for giving me this great opportunity!
