The thermal vacuum

I just finished week two of my mechanical engineering internship at CU Boulder. This week was primarily testing the CubeSat in the thermal vacuums chamber. The reason it is a Thermal vacuum rather than a normal vacuum is because this one has a temperature plate at the bottom. With this plate, we can heat or cool the CubeSat to what we estimate will be the most extreme temperature it will experience in space. Unfortunately, there have been a lot of problems while we have been testing. There have been multiple shorts on the CubeSat, which forces us to stop testing and pull it out so we can try and find what is causing this. This is a long process because it could be any number of things causing the short. Meanwhile, I am about to get my training in the ITLL (Integrated Teaching and Learning Lab) which will allow me full access to their 3D Printers and Laser Cutters. Once I have this access I will be printing and cutting a 3D model of the CubeSat which my mentor, Andrew, will take with him to the Netherlands for his presentation.
