Taylor Sickels

Hi my name is Taylor Sickels and I go to Nucla High School. This summer I am studying veterinary science at Peak Performance
We arrived in Stephenville the 12th of June and were greeted by the best host family anyone could ask for. Right away they told us everything we needed to know about the ar
ea and we were instantly part of the family.

Pregnancy check

Monday the 20th I started working at Peak Performance. It is great and I love it so much. My first week was crazy. Monday we had a horse with possible rabies and we had a trailer come in with five hurt horses that we got to help. Tuesday we had a horse with an abscess on its head that had the horses food in it and we had to cut about a two-by-two inch hole in its head to get everything cleaned out. The doctor said it was the grossest one he had ever seen.

Horse insemination

After that, the week slowed down. I got to help pregnancy check horses that were only 13 days pregnant and I got to inseminate two horses. I got to go on many ranch calls which can be a crazy trip. Over all my first week was great and I’m already learning so many things!
