Braden Barkemeyer: Aerospace and Robotics Engineering, Week Three

This week, we started setting up infrared motion capture cameras to track the drones. Putting reflective bulbs on the drones ( like the kind actors use) allows us to locate the x,y,z coordinates of exactly where the drone is flying. Using resources such as the drone, we can use the software to tell us how high or far away the drone has flown.

This is where we are hooking our cameras up to. The cameras will be on the top of this structure and tracking the drone inside.

Also we had a hex copter malfunction as one of its propellers flew off. Nobody was hurt, but we were in charge of upgrading the props with sturdier replacements.

This hexcopter has the new blades installed.

Another task I did was printing out pieces for ATLAS (the drone sphere) and starting to build it using those needed parts. These were all fun activities and I am enjoying this internship a lot.

This is the 3-D printer printing out a piece.

This is the basic structure for ATLAS. It has the cotton fiber parts and the 3D printed fittings.
