Hi all! So crazy that I only have one week left of this fantastic internship!

This week did have some unfortunate bumps in the road but, it was still so great!

My mentor (Chris) could not work with us this week so, I got to work with the QNEST team. We spent most days out in the field sampling sweep and network. (This is where you get randomly assigned plots, use nets to catch insects, and record data) We would then head back to the lab and process the data by putting them into vials filled with soapy water and spun to extract pollen. They are then put through the centrifuge so we can identify what plants the pollen is from. This week, I got to use a  pipet and fill each tube with water and place each insect into vials.

Unfortunately, I had to stay home for a couple of days because I got sick! Three other people from the lab were also sick which sucked because I was not able to come in for those days. Luckily, by Sunday I was feeling much better and took a walk up to the long lake and got some sun! I also went to the farmers market and took some great night walks around town.

Despite being sick for some of the week, I still had a great time and learned so much thanks to the Brosi lab for being such a caring group of people!
