My last week of my internship was a really great experience! I finished several major projects and learned a lot, even at the end. I finished building the model rocket, and in addition to that, I built an altimeter which works off of air pressure to detect the height of the rocket.  When we launched, we had some middle schoolers in to get them interested in Aerospace Engineering. My mentor also demonstrated flying a quadcopter drone.

I also was able to complete my yoyo this week. I spent time on the lathe and the CNC mills to complete the project. It was very difficult due to the extremely tight tolerances and the importance of recentering the yoyo properly even after it is removed from its chuck. This is extremely difficult to do at a super high level of precision, so having to do this added some shakyness to the yoyo. Then, once we had milled out the the main aluminum body of the yoyo and machined the weight rings, I used an arbor press to put them together. This is because we made the weight rings 1-2 thousandths of an inch smaller than the main aluminum body, so that when they were pressed together, they would never separate. The yoyo project was extremely successful and I learned a ton.

I also would like to thank my mentors and host family for being so accommodating to me, as I really enjoyed my time there and learned a ton. It was a truly once in a lifetime experience and I really appreciate the opportunity.
