Hello and welcome back everyone! For anyone who missed last week’s blog, my name is Brooke Duncan and I am an intern for Agile Onboarding (here in Telluride) working on software and product development. This week started on the slower side of things…I spent most of Monday working remotely troubleshooting one of my projects from last week. Unfortunately, the solution was not as easy as I had initially hoped, so at the end of the day, I hopped on a Zoom call with my mentor, Basit Mustafa, to get some help. After Monday’s meeting with Basit, I had my marching orders for Tuesday morning. I spent the first few hours of my day installing and becoming familiar with ChainLit, a software that supposedly enables you to “create ChatGPT-like UIs on top of any Python code in minutes!”. Long story short, after hours of trying, Basit and I decided to nix that idea and revert to using a different model that had proven to work just fine. On that note, we met Thursday afternoon to get some in-person work done at an office space here in town. While we were working, a significant technological issue came up, and Basit spent most of the rest of the day on a call with his team in an effort to resolve the problem. Fortunately, I was able (and encouraged) to listen in on the conversation, giving me valuable insight into some of the [much] more advanced aspects of their software. It was also a great opportunity to observe the dynamics of the team, and how they all work together despite living hundreds or thousands of miles apart. Following his meetings, we spent an hour outlining [one of] our end goals, establishing small, attainable goals as well as outlining my next few weeks. Friday was a day spent getting acquainted with yet another software, the difference being that this one is what I will be working on for the foreseeable future…hopefully, that is!

On a different note, this past week has been littered with fun – outside of work – activities that I thought may be work recounting. Last Friday (after work) my dad and I hiked into the Black Canyon of the Gunnison to spend three days camping, fishing, and generally goofing off. While the fishing was tough, we had a great time and it was an amazing way to spend Father’s Day weekend. Along the same vein, my parents and I have been hiking the Jud Wiebe before heading to the office, starting our days off on the right foot and taking some time without technology as an added bonus. Between all of our family and friends, here from out of town, we have all been kept busy, making this week fly by.

A Father’s Day weekend excursion.

Well, because it is late, and I, rather dumbly, waited until the last minute to write this, I think I am going to sign off here. Thank you for taking a few moments out of your day to read this post, and here’s to a great next week!
