Hello everyone! This was the last week of my environmental engineering internship with the University of Utah. I started this internship in person and ended it remotely, but I could not be more thankful for the entire staff at the U who made it possible for me to continue to work. Professor McPherson, Ting Xiou, Aileen Zebrowski, and Carol Smith were just a few of the amazing staff members!

This last week went by rather quickly.

Monday: Starting on Monday I looked through my helium research and added a couple more references to the bibliography sheet. My goal was to get close to finishing the bibliography and get close to finishing the hazards document.

Tuesday: On Tuesday I met with Aileen. I updated her on the bibliography and got to ask some questions about the format of the hazards document. This hazards document is for the fieldwork that will be done at the Roosevelt HotSprings area. Some of these hazards were uneven grounding, extremely hot steam, dehydration, and heat stroke.  She notified me that they would be doing some field work to simulate the actual fieldwork that will soon be done at the actual Roosevelt Hotsprings site! After our meeting, I finished up the hazards and sent it!

Thursday: On Thursday I finished the bibliography! All 95 references were finally done.

Friday: On Friday I met with Aileen again she talked to me about the fieldwork that they did. She also sent me some of the raw data for me to put into a sheet and organize. The data was on the soil temperature in different areas of the university, this was simulating the fieldwork that is going to happen at the Roosevelt HotSpring site. After our meeting, I sent her the finished bibliography!

Overall, I am extremely thankful to have been able to intern alongside some incredible people, and of course, a big thank you to the Pinhead Institution for making it possible!
