Hi I’m Karis Varner interning at Harold L Dorris Neuroscience Center and this is week three of my internship only three weeks left, which is sad it has been going faster than I thought it would.  Monday was another lab meeting day today and it was about metabolism in mice and other factors after the meeting My mentor and I started to work on making mice organs transparent, a slow but time process. He is starting to let me get more independent with the work. Wednesday I had a really fun time I was able to meet up with my soon to be roommate, she is super sweet and her internship is for biochemistry. Thursday there was only two mice so I got to watch the dissection’s only. Friday has been a really nice day the weather was really nice and I got to do some other labs today like working with the vibraphone again and so on and so forth Friday I went back to the Vibraphone and got to work it again I think it is fun to work on it even though it can take a very long time sometimes to finish all the samples but this time it was a lot faster. One more week until July! I’m excited especially to go down to the beach for a firework show and have some fun, i wonder if my roommates will want to go too?
