Hi, my name is Karla Camacho and I will be at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York for the next two weeks. I am interning with the Emblematic Group as they exhibit their VR film, Please, Believe Me, at the Tribeca Film Festival. The Emblematic Group creates immersive and augmented virtual reality. The interactive VR film follows the story of a woman named Vicki Logan who was diagnosed with Lyme disease in the 90s and was not able to continue getting the treatment that she needed. The film follows her journey and struggles with Lyme disease. I got to New York on Sunday night with Amelie Sante and her mom Molly. Amelie and I began doing intern work on Wednesday by joining a docent training and we met Charlie Park and Kim Cleworth, who are producers of Please, Believe Me. On Thursday I was able to go through this film and learn what I would be doing in the next upcoming days. We were asked to help troubleshoot, set up for the general public to come in on Friday, explain to people what the project was about, and help them use the Oculus VR gear. Saturday went by a lot smoother than the last couple of days because we didn’t have as many issues with the head sets and are getting into a comfortable routine. On the two days in which we had free time, we settled into the apartment, went to the museum in the public library, got MetroCards for the subway, saw the Statue of Liberty, and were able to walk through Times Square.
