Hello, my name is Sammi. I am an intern at the Tybee Island Marine Science Center, in Savannah Georgia. I am learning about the marine life that is around the Tybee Island.

This is my third and last week here in Georgia. It has been going really well. On Wednesday I went to work with another pintern who arrived Saturday, named Sarah. We got to help make food for the box turtles.  We also helped clip their nails and put lotion on them. I introduced Sarah to Maizy the corn snake. That was also the last time I got to hold her. I gave Sarah the facts of all the crabs and life in the touch tank.

On Thursday, I helped Sarah at the touch tank during the morning and made sure she was getting the facts. We had a new crab brought to us. It was called a purse crab. You could pick it up and it would just sit there. In the afternoon I got to spend time with the sea campers. They were little kids. Ages six to twelve. There was 11 students. We got to go on a dolphin tour. There were so many dolphins swimming around. I also saw these huge birds. We had so much watching them. It was my first time on a big boat that you could stand up in.

Friday was my last day working at the science center. I got out on the main floor a couple times but I taught at the touch tank. I became a master at it and learned so much. At the end of the day I said bye to all of my friends that I made.

Saturday I went to say good bye to everyone and all of the animals. I learned so much while I was at that center and connected with the people that I worked with. It was an amazing opportunity and experience that I’ll never forget.
