Hello everyone! This was my fifth week working as an intern with the CCITT. On Monday, I met again with my mentor, Jennifer Sevin, and we talked about my internship. I am continuing to work on collecting data related to online turtle sales. She also offered to answer college and career questions that I may have. We talked a bit about where I plan to apply to college and she told me about a few colleges with great veterinary schools in the east. I’m glad to have someone who can answer my questions, so I’ll be sure to have them in mind when we meet again tomorrow. I am interested in considering more widely offered majors than zoology.

After my meeting, I continued to record turtle sales with the help of my fellow intern Mary. I have been mainly finding re-homing listings, which is where people sell their pets that they no longer want or can take care of. We also have begun a separate collection of data for other conservation concerns. Not much changed this week from my previous weeks, but my mentor told me there is another upcoming presentation that I can watch. I have enjoyed having the opportunity to listen to the presentations of those who are working in conservation, so I am looking forward to this.

Outside of my internship, my family and I spent the 4th of July at our friends’ house. We watched fireworks together. We also went on a hike at Morrow Dam.
