Hello everyone! My name is Bella Galbo, and for my summer internship under Pinhead I am working with the Rodham Institute in Washington, D.C. I am going to be a senior at Telluride High School this fall, and am ecstatic to be able to do this internship and to visit D.C. for two weeks and do the rest of my help/work online!

So far my internship has been so interesting. I have done a couple of things involving my work with Rodham and the students. To start off, I was able to meet over the phone with the wonderful Tracie Bass and Dr. Jehan El-Bayoumi. We talked a little bit about introductions and then about what my work with the Institute would look like. I was also able to join a Zoom call with students in D.C., college students who have worked with Rodham, along with teachers and educators. It was so interesting to listen to these voices about the current events and the effect it has on them personally. The mental health of our population in light of the events going on is important to talk about and dedicate time to. Some examples of the things people on this Zoom call said that are positive to do when feeling down are cartoons, outdoors, friends, talking about how you feel, music, and workout!

I am working on the platform for a Student Film Festival that I named Next Generation Voices. There are some obstacles to overcome involving devices (iphones and androids) and how students will access information. However, once we get past these obstacles, the videos that will be created are not only informative, but real and from the voices of young individuals.

I am so excited for the upcoming weeks, and my time in D.C. with the Rodham Institute.
