This was my last week here at UCSD in the George lab and it was pretty sad but at the same time exciting. I was happy to be returning home and being able to share my amazing experience but at the same time I was sad to be leaving such an amazing lab full of amazing people. We started the week off with a journal club and then Tuesday we presented our paper as well. We had a good presentation and we had a great discussion on compulsion in addiction that lasted a really long time. Then we also finished our presentation on what we did in the lab during our time there and presented it to the lab and Giordano as well. They liked our presentation and helped us put it together which was great. Then on Thursday the lab took us out to eat for sushi for the first time as sort of a farewell. They really wanted me to try sushi since I told them in an earlier conversation that I had never tried it before. So we went out to eat and in all honesty I didn’t like it at all. They watched me try it for the first time and not react very well to it so they got me a different plate of normal food. They really liked how I was open to trying new things but I don’t think I’ll be eating sushi again for a while. Finally on Friday my parents arrived to pick me up and I had to say goodbye to all the amazing lab members I met during my time here. It was an amazing experience here and San Diego is a beautiful city. This experience has given me a lot of insight for the future and an idea of where I would like to continue. Thanks for reading!
