My last week at the Tybee Marine Science Center was filled with fun and saying goodbyes. This week I got to meet a few new animals that decided to show up at the center, like terrapin eggs, and big stingrays. As my week came to an end I realized how much I’ve learned over the past six weeks, and what an impact this internship has had on me.

I’ve learned the basics of the ocean and more in depth of some of the amazing animals in it. Some of my favorite parts have been learning about how many different aspects there are to Marine Science and not just marine biology. I also enjoyed learning about the biggest sharks and the tiniest of plankton. I’ve found that the animals off the coast of Georgia are very special and interesting that they have made a special place in my heart.

As I said my goodbyes to all of these amazing animals and people, I have learned to truly appreciate all of the hard work that goes into keeping these animals healthy and living happy. It’s amazing how many different aspects go into the ocean and how it is a completely different world than above the water. I’m thankful for everyone that helped me during this internship and that taught me their side of oceanography.
