This week was my 4th week at the Bernier Lab at the Center on Development and Disability at the University of Washington. This week there was only two CONNECT-FX visits, so it was a pretty slow week in terms of seeing study participants. When the CONNECT-FX visits were not happening, I was working on data entry for the DRYK1A conference. Since it was such a big group of kids it takes a lot of work to complete reviewing their file. This week I also had the opportunity to attend a training about EEG (electroencephalogram) to learn a little more about how and why it is used. The training included looking at different wave types and Event-related potential (ERP). ERPs are certain voltages that happened after a certain stimulus and can help determine if the EEG is abnormal. I was also able to meet with my mentor, Eva, to talk about how to read a scientific article, and then we proceed to talk about an article written by our lab on DYRK1A. Next week I will be presenting my DRYK1A data project that I have been working on for 2 weeks now.

This week I was able to mostly bike to work, besides a couple rainy days, which allowed me to see parts of the city for the first time. The bike ride is 4 miles round trip, and allows for some great built in exercise in my day. Due to timing issues, I was unable to play soccer this week, but never less after work I would often enjoy the nice days by sitting outside, going for a run, and lots more! This weekend I went with my host family to their cabin they have on Decatur Island.

This week a couple nights I made dinner for my host family
