Hello Everyone!

This week I spent half of my time working at the clinic at George Washington University Medical Faculty Associates. I had the opportunity to shadow doctors on the pulmonary and internal medicine floors. During these visits, I met with patients, listened to residents present their treatment to attendings, and learned about the different conditions that the patients had.

The second half of my week I spent my time volunteering at the Southeast Tennis and Learning Center. During my time at the center, I supervised the elementary school students at the center, worked on spreadsheets for the administration, and sat in on some of the humanities classes that the center offers these students. I also had the opportunity to spend a bit of time with the CEO of the center and some of the administration staff. We had several impactful conversations about the health disparities in Washington D.C., and how the center has successfully begun to combat those issues. I found it meaningful to travel to Southeast, because most of the work that I have done for Rodham these past five weeks has been directed towards efforts to support individuals living in that particular region. Seeing the neighborhood in person, and comparing it to the other neighborhoods in the city that I have spent time in, highlighted the disparities that exist within the city.

This weekend, I spent time at the National Museum of History, the Wax Museum, and the Spy Museum. Below are some photographs of books on display at the History Museum.
