This week was our last week of doing real research on our protein systems. Which was both exciting and sad that it is all coming to an end. During this week I spent most of my time calculating free energy wells for each system of the distance between the center of mass of the ligand and the center of mass of the hole protein. I hypothesized that the lower the energy well goes the lower the IC50 will be because a low free energy value means that the distances are most stable. After graphing the depth of the wells over the IC50 we were sad to find that there was no correlation so we couldn’t use it in order to predict other IC50s of different systems.

Outside of the lab things have been a little bit more boring now that Ry and Wynton are gone but I have kept myself built by playing basketball with Emmanuel going on sunset cliff hikes with Finn Doherty who came down to San Diego for the weekend from her internship in Long Beach.
