This was my fourth week here in California.  This week I have been working on putting together a slideshow presentation for a SCUBA tour agency, Horizon Charters, out of San Diego. One of the computer science majors at the university designed a real-time acoustic receiver software that will be on the MV Horizon vessel. It will actively receive detections from white sharks and store the data on the computer. The data can be used to provide a more educational trip for tourists and they can learn more about the white sharks at Guadalupe Island. The presentation I created includes information about the CSULB shark lab, the vessel, great white sharks, the crew, and Guadalupe Island.

The view from my host family’s house.

This weekend we celebrated my host family’s grandson’s 3rd birthday with amazing food and a beautiful cake.

One of the graduates, who is studying and tracking rockfish and flatfish, pulled her receivers out of the water to download data and she is missing 4 of them. We are going to go out tomorrow and use robots to find them, and I am very excited to be out on the water!
