Week two for me happened to be a wild one at the museum. In the Entertainment department alone, we had 6 events: Sunday Swing, Stage Door Idol, Dine & Dance, the Bob Hope Foundation Movie Screenings, Best of Sinatra, and Stage Door Idol. I spent the entire week running to and fro making sure everything was as it should be – reserved seating was reserved, programs and judge score sheets were properly produced, WWII veterans in the audience were comfortable, and everything is set for the post-number costume change.

I got to work with the marketing dept. for the second time this week! It’s always very exciting for me because I get to see really how much thought goes into every detail and color sent out to press in order to attract the most public eyes; it’s all quite intricate.

And next week, it looks like in addition to running the youth theatre camp, I’ll have time to interview each department head to see more about their backgrounds and passions and how their branch of the museum really makes an impact. I’m especially excited to see the collections department who restore donated artifacts from the late thirties and forties for the upcoming exhibits. More on that later!

B-17 E-BO “My Gal Sal” in the Boeing Center among other restored WWII airplanes.

Take a look here at the planes I get to see every day in the museum’s Boeing Center! The largest is an authentic B-17 E-BO affectionately nicknamed “My Gal Sal” that was forced to land on a Greenland Icecap before being recovered and restored later. It is one of three that still exist. I love being able to see real pieces of our nation’s history everyday – touched by real people who lived and experienced and died all to make the world we see today.

More next week!
