Connor Hazen: Astrophysics, Week Two

Connor W2I just finished my second week studying Astro-Physics at ASU. This past week, my main job has been to compare simulation data from high density galaxies, to low density galaxies. So far, itseems to have not made a difference on the ratio of line strengths. This is very strange as even if density is not the solution, we should at least see some impact. As, we don’t see an impact, I am now checking to compare the two simulation programs to see if they give the same result at high density. If the data we have is faulty, that might explain why we are experiencing thesestrange results. I am getting much better at coding in python which making working with these mass amounts of data much easier.

Outside of ASU, it has still been hot,but we got rain! I have never loved rain more. I am told we are moving into monsoon season so hopefully there is more to come. To combat the high heat, I have spent a long time swimming in my host family’s pool. I have also been trying to play soccer, but you can only do outdoor activity at night as the during the day it is just too hot.

Thanks again to Sarah Holbrooke and Pinhead.
