Another view of HQ

My second week working with the DNC has been quite the adventure, to say the least. I was given a new boss from whom to take directions, Deputy Organizing Director Sarah Andrews. Work became more orderly, and there was rarely a time I didn’t feel like I had plenty to do.

This week I worked mostly on data mining, looking for specific events at college campuses where we can get some voter registration done. I got to see the flyers that I had designed the week before get put to use, and I received recognition that what I had been doing was helping. Besides that, I developed

some meaningful relationships with those whom I worked with, and made some valuable ties for the future.

However, my week was turned upside down when the engine light came on in my car driving home from work. Following that, the remainder of my week (Thursday and Friday) consisted of: driving all over Denver trying to fix my car; finding my way home having just given my car to the mechanic; the untimely death of my phone; and, while waiting for my car to be fixed, working on my computer from a Starbucks, Krogers, and Public Library only to find that my car would not be ready until next Monday.

Although it may have been an unusual week, I did get the chance to listen in (from a neighborhood Starbucks) to a conference call with Sen. Michael Bennet’s campaign manager, talking about the successes their campaign has had, an experience that felt very valuable.

Overall it has been quite the week and hopefully next week will be a little calmer.
