Nicollette and I in the process of sub-sampling

Lab Work Update
The final week in the lab went well. Everything was perfectly timed: I completely finished LOI and charcoal analysis on my last day.

Sabino Canyon
Thursday Nicollette took me to Sabino Canyon! It was a great break from all the lab work. We hiked 7+ miles and near the top of the trail there was a small waterfall and natural pool that we could cool down in. Cooling down was very necessary too, as I’m sure you know the Arizona heat is unrelenting. I’m extremely thankful that my host mom made sure I packed plenty of water because I definitely needed it.

Dish of the week!

Dish of the Week
This week’s dish of the week is from the second core from a depth of 57.25cm. The crescent moon looking object towards the top is actually a piece of charcoal. It’s likely that it’s a burned leaf stem but it could also be a burned needle from a tree or a little, burned root.

6 Weeks?
I can’t believe I just spent 6 weeks in Tucson! Time seemed to go by extremely fast but that’s a good thing, it means I was having fun! I really did enjoy all my time here and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience this summer. Thank you Pinhead, Sarah, Peck, Nicollette, and my host family! You’ve all made my summer so great and memorable, I’ll never forget it!
