Committee). The thing that has been most apparent to me is the fact of how much hard work and time is put into running any campaign. With a group of about twenty working tirelessly at the headquarters (HQ), to the thirty organizers working throughout the state, and hundreds of others working below them, it is quite the operation. However, that doesn’t mean everything is always serious. In fact, the HQ acts much more like a family, working together and always leaving a little time for fun. The Democratic HQ lies in the Empire Park, a series of seven-storied office buildings on the sixth floor. As you make your way around the

hallway you find a rudimentary written sign on the door reading “DNC HQ”, although it doesn’t look like much on the outside it is truly where all the magic happens. My job is to assist in whatever is needed. On my first day, I was sent to the Capital Building in Denver to stand behind Jared Polis (United States Representative), Ken Salazar (United States Secretary of the Interior), Ryan Case, and Maria Ciano as they discussed the dangers of electing Donald Trump as president. My next few days were spent at HQ, where I created flyers for recruiting organizers, recruited organizers on multiple college websites, and then continued to mine data working to generate a list of all faculty contact information for colleges in Northern Colorado. Although sometimes things feel dull, there is a gripping thrill that comes with being in the same room as the people who got Obama elected in 2008, and will most likely help Hilary Clinton win in 2016. Overall it has been a really valuable experience, and I will never forget the determination that resides in the Democratic Party.
