St. Paul’s Cathedral (located next to the LSEG).

During my second week with the LSEG, my project moved from Advanced Platforms to the jurisdiction of a different group, so I changed offices to follow it. James headed back to Austria, where he works remotely, so I was basically off to a new start.

Monday morning was spent getting onboarded into the new office, as well as being issued a new pass for the doors. The rest of the week I spent working with different people on my project, moving around the office to talk to different people based upon what I needed. Throughout this time I got to meet many interesting and intelligent people, and got some very different perspectives on the job.
Working with this group focused more on the corporate side of my project, dealing with different people and documentation.

I was given my own desk to work at, and basically chose my own work schedule. Most of the office didn’t get in until 10:00, but I got in around 8:30 every day to get work done before everyone else.
Each day I’d go out to lunch in the downtown area, walking around the Gherkin and other famous buildings. Fast food there is far different from what we consider it here. There, the fast food is in the form of Pret, a fast food chain that is more like Panera than any other fast food we know. Just like Starbucks here, though, they were everywhere. From the front door of Beaufort house, there were three within a few blocks!

At the end of the day, I would commute back on the Tube. Unfortunately, this would be right in rush hour, so the trains would be packed with people. Often I wouldn’t be able to get on  simply because you couldn’t fit more people and still close the doors!

After working through the week, I completed my project with an hour to spare on the last day. I said my goodbyes to everyone I’d met there, and got back to my apartment just in time to start packing for the trip home.
