As the final week of my Pinternship passes by, I regret to say that my time at CUChange Lab has come to a close.

While the final week at the lab was somewhat limited (as I came down with the flu), I still had an amazing time. During this last week, I sat in on a few more visits for both the ‘Force’ and the ‘Get Active’ labs. During this time, I was trained on the ‘PAR’ (Participant Activity Recall) questionnaire and was able to thus contribute more to these visits.

The final (Force) fMRI scan I witnessed, however, was slightly interesting. The participant unknowingly had severe claustrophobia had a very difficult time remaining in the scanner for the 42-minute scanning period. Although this time was extremely stressful for both the participant and for the rest of us running the scan, the participant was able to pull through and complete the session, which was very critical for the study.

The last six weeks have been truly invaluable. I am extremely thankful to have had this truly once in a lifetime opportunity! I have not only fallen in love with Boulder, but also with working in a lab with extremely intelligent and fascinating people. Although I have not decided whether or not I will pursue neuroscience as a future career, I plan to use everything I gained from this experience as I enter into college and into the years beyond. I want to thank Sarah Holbrooke, the Pinhead community, and everyone at the CUChange lab who helped make this experience a reality!
