Laurel Chappell: Cosmetic Chemistry, Final Week

In my last week at Erbaviva I worked with Pete on mostly official documents for releasing items. Quality control must inspect each final product and check that all the components of the process were documented before anything can be released. These documents include forms that confirm all instruments and machines have been sanitized before use to mix product, invoices showing what bulk products have been received, and forms saying the final product matches the standard product.

I was also able to spend time with an engineer who came to help make the process for baby lip and cheek balm faster and safer for the workers. She was able to cut the process time by about an hour which is a huge improvement, especially when making the product in bulk.

The last few days of my stay my friend Skye took me to visit the UCSB campus and Thom took me to see Hollywood. I also got to read some of his script for the narration of “Ice Road Truckers” in the studio! Thom also invited me to help with an organization called Doctors without Borders in Mexico at the end of July!
