This is a picture of the view from my office! It overlooks downtown Louisville.

Unfortunately, this past weekend I got sick. I came down with strep throat. I was not able to do anything but rest and recover, which was a bummer because I was looking forward to checking out Louisville. Luckily I was able to get medication and be back as soon as possible.

The third week involved more training and recovery of patients. I have been assisting physical therapists and doctors in recovery and rehab sessions, all of which focus on the treatment of paralyzed children 15 years of age and under. The goal of these training sessions is to help the spinal cord recovery from damage, and to teach the nervous system how to properly move and work again after injury.

In the time that I am not helping patients, I have been sorting, converting and backing up research data. This data is recorded in research sessions. In the sessions, we record the muscle movement of patients to determine their level of injury or amount of recovery achieved and/or needed. These tasks have taught me a lot, and I am always busy, which is awesome!

I can’t believe that I am already halfway through my internship! Time sure does fly.
