image image image This week at AuburnVeterinary Teaching Hospital I got to help with a lot more hands on activities and procedures. I’ve helped castrate a boar pig and a young bull. I also was lucky enough to watch several surgeries including one in which the doctors reset a broken leg of a calf who was stepped on by its mother. The calf is doing better and we all expect more improvements. My host family is great. Jackie is a wonderful cook and is getting around alright on her little scooter(Jackie broke her ankle shortly after I arrived). Jim and I have been working on his boat some nights in hope of going to the local lake. Since Jackie broke her ankle, I even get to drive to the university in Jim’s truck. So far I haven’t had any trouble and I finally learned the way without using the gps. In short , I am doing good and having lots of fun. Not to mention the learning part. I would encourage anyone to try to join the pinhead institute next year. It’s totally worth it.
