Plaque assay pun incoming…

I tried to tell a joke about bacteriophages once, but it didn’t plaque—let’s hope today’s content sticks better!

All jokes aside this week the plates once again did not plaque, but this time it was the other interns plates. Bala and I were tasked with walking the newer interns through the entire phage isolation process for practice. On Tuesday we checked the plates and they looked like this…

Lots of bacteria, not so many plaques. After that was done the rest of the week was very quiet because I was waiting on MRS and still am to this day. I’m guessing I got stood up, but what can you do. I’m Sorry, no more. In all seriousness the MRS will be here this coming Tuesday so I’ll be able to get back to work then. Other than playing the waiting game Bala and I were tasked with creating a hypothesis to test for the rest of the time in the lab. We have yet to figure one out, though we have a while before we have to present it. Hopefully after I leave Bala will be able to finish the project before returning to India.

Outside of the lab I continued to workout and play soccer. The more entertaining part of my week being the fourth. I ended up flying back to Telluride to celebrate the fourth, my mother saying that it wasn’t because she missed me (seems fishy). Other than my mother no one else knew I was back so I was able to jump scare many people. My dad saying that It caused him a second heart attack. Other than that my friends were happy to see me, and hangout again. I also enjoyed to bike park for the first time this season (it was awesome). The fourth of July show was not the greatest, mainly due to no fireworks but many people still shot some off. The late nights of the weekend have left me feeling a little under the weather, but I’m feeling better and looking forward to the week to come.
