Here is week 4!
Disclaimer: Week 4 was extremely lackluster because our director chose to have the entire week off; as a result, I was left with a couple of things to do.
Monday Through Thursday
30th – 3rd
I went to the Colorado Office of Children, Youth, and Family Website to do the training for mandatory reporting.
Mandatory Reporters are individuals who include educators, such as teachers and school staff, as well as first responders, officers, firefighters, and mental health professionals.
As so, Section one talks about how to notice and what to look for when having suspicions of child abuse. This section talks about the definition of abuse and what falls into this section
Physical Abuse: Inflicts non-accidental injuries that range from bruises to death.
Beating, kicking, biting, stabbing, choking, hitting (without injury)
Sexual Abuse: unwanted or unconsensual sexual acts
Rape, Penetration, incest, indecent exposure, sexual
While in this session, it also talks about how to see signs of abuse that have happened, but when it’s sexual abuse, you don’t need evidence to report it, but you must have suspicions of sexual abuse.
These are the most well-known, but there are more. This section also discusses neglect and how to notice it, talks about how considerations based on culture, poverty, religious beliefs,
Section 2
Responding to child abuse and neglect.
Then talks about disclosure about to do it right without harming the child.
Section 3 Talks about different ways to report, such as hotlines, Child Protective Services, and just how to report and do it successfully.
Friday 4th
I created a list of activities for youth to do, and still a very tiny list, but it includes a lot of social psychology.
My current living situation is quite awesome as the house is very nice and the person hosting is barely there and allows me a lot of privacy and allows me to keep a lot of space. My house is so close to where I work that it makes every day so easy.
