05 Jul Luke Fritsche RoSE Lab Internship Week 4
This week was a little slower, but still very fun

Lab work slowed down for this week. We were mostly in a good place for the systems I am working on, so it mostly consisted of buying parts to build a prototype for them. We also worked on CDR requirements that was asked by our lab lead, such as redesigns and seeing if said redesigns were feasible. We also made a list of the materials we need and analyzed the structural integrity of our designs using a process called FEA. The lab was closed on the 3rd so we got a longer weekend this time.

Outside the lab, we went to the rec center a lot as usual, but also I went tubing a few times this week. One day after work at the lab, I went tubing the river in Golden with a friend from the lab. He showed me the best spots and it was very fun. On the fourth, Gunnar and I went tubing down the same river. It was fun, although it was extremely crowded and it felt more like water bumper cars than regular tubing. After a couple hours of that, I went to check out some of the 4th of July festivals with Evan. We went to one in the main park in Golden and explored that for a while. There were people grilling, food trucks, volleyball, and all types of other festivities. We went and checked out a few more later in the day, but unfortunately there was no parade or fireworks in Golden. I went with Evan on some night time bike rides to explore the town throughout the week as well. Golden is a very beautiful town and getting to live in it these past 4 weeks has been great.

I would have gotten a picture while tubing, but I (pretty wisely I think) opted to not bring my phone to a raging river

It’s hard to see, and the camera didn’t capture it well, but there was a beautiful blood moon one night
