Private: A “PLACES OF INVENTION” EVENING

PH Places of invention 380x190

Please join us for an inspiring evening of History, Science, and Innovation, hosted by the Telluride Historical Museum and the Pinhead Institute, in conjunction with the Smithsonian’s Places of Invention program.

Tuesday, January 13th, 6pm at the Sheridan Opera House.

The evening opens with the first public screening of “Hydro Power”, a 30-minute documentary by Rocky Mountain PBS about our own Ames Hydroelectric Generating Plant – the first in the world to generate alternating current electricity for industrial applications.

Next, students from Telluride Middle School and The Mountain School will give TED-Style presentations on topics describing a specific moment of innovation in Telluride.

Finally, the evening will conclude with a panel discussion and audience Q&A with Telluride scholars Dr. Ravel Ammerson (Colorado School of Mines), Alfred Hughes (Superintendent of the Ames Power Plant), and Erica Kinias (Executive Director of the Telluride Historical Museum).
