Rider Abbott, Oklahoma State University, Week #5

I can’t believe it. The 6 weeks are almost up.

I’m excited and dreading it at the same time. I’ve had so much fun here I partially wish it would continue for longer, but I know that isn’t possible. Its alright though. These are memories I’ll hold onto forever.

And these memories will be all the fun stuff I’ve done the past few weeks.
On that note this past week was probably one of my favorites!

Ben and I spent the majority of our time working on producing a small, lightweight foam glider. This glider, made out of a flexible black foam that was available at the lab, allowed us to have a resilient glider that could take a beating, but still maintain its shape.

After the completion of the first glider, another intern, Carter, scaled up the model we used for the initial glider. This new model is nearly 2-3 times the size of the original, and we are planning on putting it together this following week!

In addition this week, I had the honor of organizing, testing, and sorting the ENTIRE battery locker at the lab. That means I tested the voltage of every single battery there that had a appropriate connecter to the reader.
(Over 200+ batteries…)

Sadly, as I mentioned the week before, I had a test for my sUAS license. I didn’t pass. It’s alright though! I took it as a lesson and have realized I may need to, instead of changing how long I study for, change how I study.

So instead of taking the loss as a failure I turned it into something I could work on. In addition, it gives me something to look forward to when I return home. Because you know I’ll try the test again when I return, and that time, I’ll get it!
