Hi everyone,

My second week at APR is now complete, and I’ve been having a great time! This week was a short one, running only from Monday through Wednesday, and the office was pretty quiet with many people out. Despite that, I still had the chance to learn a lot and work on some really exciting projects. One of the first things I did was 3D scan the rear end of a VW to check how well an APR exhaust system fits the bumper. I got hands-on experience using the 3D scanner and transferring the scan data onto the computer for analysis. I also spent time helping reverse engineer the ECU of a BMW. This involved using a decompiler to compare a broken decompiled file with a complete one from the original manufacturer—work that’s essential for calibrators to properly tune, through adjusting PID values found in ECU maps, and therefore being able to make the car perform better.

While in Auburn, I’ve been staying with an amazing host family who have made the transition incredibly smooth and welcoming. They’ve helped me settle in and feel at home here. Outside of work, I’ve been enjoying daily walks with their dog, relaxing at the pool, and getting in some workouts to stay active. It’s been a amazing time in and out of my internship, and I’m really grateful for the experience so far.
