Science Summer Camps
Science is more than a subject. It's part of everything we do - and the more we understand, the more we can appreciate and conserve our natural world to a greater extent.
The Pinhead Institute is exited to be joining forces with the Telluride Academy to offer science courses that allow children an opportunity to explore and discover the wonderful wold of science outside a traditional school setting.
In these camps, kids will investigate, invent, experiment, interpret, discover, and share what they have learned. Most important of all, kids will have fun using their hands & minds!

Journey into the magical and mystifying world of insects as you become a certified and trained Insect Detective! Grab your magnifying glass and your curious caps as we set out on an inquisitive expedition to learn about the buzzing, flying and crawling creatures that rule this kingdom. We will be joined by an Insect Expert from the Pinhead Institute who will help guide us on our muddy and messy adventure as we set out to discover where they live, what they eat and how they move. This will be a big adventure into the tiny universe of our insect friends!

Do you love to experiment - creating cool concoctions and bubbling potions? Let's get messy as we explore the world of science with unique hands-on experiments. The Pinhead Institute will even provide a super-science-specialist for a few of our experiential explorations. Design your own lab coat and then grab your goggles because it's about to get messy! When we're not working in our laboratory, we'll explore the natural world around us, climbing, boating and hiking trails in search for our next scientific inspiration!

Do you like to make things go BOOM! Join the Academy experts and guest appearances from a Pinhead Institute specialist for two weeks of mixing, boiling, bubbling, investigating, hypothesizing and experimenting! We'll blend time in the field and time in our laboratory to discover what happens when great minds and crazy ideas come together. Our findings will be on full display during our grand finale BOOM! presentation for friends and family.

Blast Off is an “out of this world” adventure that will take you to the cosmos and beyond! Spend an explosive week exploring the far reaches of our backyard and beyond our solar system. We’ll experiment with different methods of power and propulsion and learn the risks and rewards of rocketry with a real space scientist from the Pinhead Institute! Cosmonauts will even spend a portion of each day designing, perfecting and building their very own rockets. Our grand galactic finale will be a rocket launching party for friends and family. Let the countdown begin!
