Hello, it’s week two in LA and it was something else. This week I was bit by one of the animals. Since I have been here people continuously tell me “they’ll bite you”. It’s funny because I hear it from everyone about almost every animal at the center. I believe the only animal I haven’t been warned about were the bunnies. This seems understandable, they are these cute rabbits with big eyes. You’re thinking how much damage could a bunny do, right? Well, it just so happens that that was the animal I was bit by. It was more of a little snag than a bite and it didn’t hurt at all. I was cleaning their enclosure and he did not want to be moved so he got me. I’m honestly a little angry about it. Out of all the animals we have at the center I got bit by a bunny. I guess that’s life though, you always get bit by the last thing you would think.
Other than that this week I was put in charge of our Western Screech owl, Zeus. Zeus is a tiny owl, most known for having starts in his eyes. Usually these owls, like most, have extremely good vision. Owls don’t have a sense of smell, so they cannot smell their prey while hunting. This means they must have the ability to see their prey in the wild. Zeus, however, only has about 10% of his vision. He has cataracts which causes the “galaxy” effect. My job is basically just taking him outside for the day, weighing, feeding, and taking him back in if it’s late enough in the day. It’s not much, but it’s nice feeling in charge of such a cute little guy.
Other than the bite and my new friend Zeus my week was pretty relaxed. I spent a lot of 
time educating the public and hanging out with our Eagle Owlets. My host brother, his friend and myself went to my first concert with rappers Ugly God, Kyle and more. It was not at all what I had expected but it was a lot of fun for my first concert. This week I hope to spend more time on the beach and hopefully go to Magic Mountain.
